Rustic luxury with a sea view in Normandy

"I fell in love with this land: a sea view while being in the countryside—truly something special!"

Perched on the heights of Touques, overlooking the famous Haras de Meautry, owned by the Rothschilds, La Ferme de la Forêt is a place where every detail tells a story and every room leaves a lasting impression. Though it feels as if it has stood here for centuries, the house is in fact recent. Built with reclaimed materials—roof tiles, beams, and floors sourced from Lacombe Matériaux—it captures the spirit of traditional Norman homes while offering the comfort and standards of contemporary living.

As the owner, passionate about architecture and interior design, puts it: 'We wanted the charm of the old without the drawbacks of historic houses.' The architecture is therefore classical yet adapted: spacious, light-filled rooms, a kitchen and dining area opening onto a ground-level terrace, geothermal heating, air conditioning, and state-of-the-art insulation. The result is all the modern comforts within a setting that exudes the warmth of wood and stone, with the sea visible in the distance.

If you look closely, the sea appears in the distance.

Warmth
and elegance

The décor is designed to charm and surprise. Antique furniture coexists with bespoke contemporary pieces: dining tables by Baptiste Lanne, sofas by Pierre-Augustin Rose, Marguerite Lemaire rugs perfectly matched to the wallpapers. Copper accents appear everywhere, from door handles to gutters—a subtle yet omnipresent touch. The owner, passionate about art, has placed works by Drift Studio and Pierre-Augustin Rose throughout the interiors. Fabrics come exclusively from Maison Pierre Frey, and the wall sconces were created by Karen Swami.

Each bedroom has its own personality: round windows, circular or twin beds, bathrooms with showers and bathtubs, master suites of 73 and 55 m². The dormitory area and independent studio can accommodate up to 15 guests.

The living room, meanwhile, offers perfect comfort for cozy evenings by the fireplace, or enjoying the 4K cinema screen. As the owner explains: "You can dine around the kitchen’s central island while chatting—it’s very convivial."

From the kitchen, you can prepare meals while enjoying views of the garden.

The estate of La Ferme de la Forêt spans 4.5 hectares, featuring a garden, orchard, swimming pool, terrace, lake, fire pit, padel court, and a 5-hole putting green… Guests can enjoy all these amenities throughout their stay.

Inside, an infrared sauna, gym, game room for both children and adults, library, and wine cellar provide entertainment at any hour.

Normandy, with its lush landscapes and beaches, offers countless opportunities for outings: hiking, water sports, cultural visits (Trouville and Deauville are just five kilometers away)… or simply strolling through the park and enjoying the sea view. As the owners put it: 'Being completely at peace in the countryside with a view of the sea is what makes this house truly unique in our eyes.
