"A captivating view and history."

Nestled 300 meters above sea level, amidst a ‘forest’ of umbrella pine trees, the Couvent de Pozzo overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea in complete tranquility. The old dry stone walls of the convent have withstood the test of time, and what were once monks’ cells have been transformed into elegant chambers. The garden and pool are timeless spaces that encourage contemplation and captivate with their beauty. A monastic atmosphere alternately shrouded in mist or bathed in sunlight, punctuated by the sound of bells. The Couvent de Pozzo promises a sincerely exotic stay in an authentic yet luxurious setting.

An unconventional
– luxury

Owned by a prominent figure from Bastia, and then by their descendants since 1796, following the departure of 16 religious inhabitants, this site boasts a unique history. As the seventh generation to inhabit the convent, now available for rent, Emmanuelle Picon has envisioned a serene and unique retreat.

With passion, she offers a dining service, conducts yoga classes, nurtures a permaculture garden, and subtly manages a dedicated team aimed at delivering premium comfort to her guests. This includes inventive local, seasonal, and homemade cuisine, daily housekeeping, and a responsive concierge service…

Featuring a bathroom perched in the tower four meters high, a suite adjoining the former refectory, or even a sea-view corridor with rooms in a row (the “Corridor of the Pères Prieurs” and its monks’ cells). To clarify, the Convent offers a star-shaped layout divided into four wings around an inner courtyard where breakfasts and some dinners are served. Guests are free to choose from six double rooms, six singles (with their four bathrooms) supplemented by two suites with independent entrances: Pax (peace), an eagle’s nest with a terrace and balcony perched on the first floor, and La Suite e Loggie, a charming studio located at the entrance of the Convent. Multiple sleeping options allow up to 15 people to comfortably enjoy the space.

A sense of detail
– in a setting of raw beauty

The Couvent de Pozzo boasts as many unique rooms as it does details that bear witness to its history. Inside, intact frescoes and relics, such as a monk’s bench dating back to 1723, embody the place’s soul. In the kitchen, Napoleon plates and brass candlesticks sit alongside modern elements like stainless steel sinks or floral Indian Simrane napkins. The bathrooms feature organic Corsican products from the Casanera brand. For the utmost post-swim comfort,  Emmanuelle has selected honeycomb towels from the French brand Merci.

In addition to an unforgettable experience at the Couvent, exploring its incredibly beautiful surroundings is a must. Following Emmanuelle’s wise advice: head to the tip of the Cap – by car or by boat – to Barcaggio for its cow-filled beach and white sand. “After that, there’s no more land,” adds the host. Heading west: Saint Florent, Caribbean-style beaches, La Cabane du Lodu… or right near the house: the lively village of Erbalunga, numerous walks or hikes, and even a somewhat hidden river spot just 10 minutes away.
