A bright haven between the sea and the river

The house sits on elevated ground, with views of the Morlaix River from the terrace and the Bay of Morlaix at the back. It’s nestled in a sprawling, tree-filled park — where centuries-old giants quietly steal the show.

Welcome to Maison Auzenn, a grand country house perched above Morlaix in a quiet hamlet—perfectly placed between town life and the beach. Here, you settle in, switch off, and take in views of the Bay of Morlaix from the terrace, accompanied by birdsong.

With 260 m² of sun-drenched space, the house welcomes families, groups of friends, dreamy couples, and die-hard hikers — anyone craving a seaside escape.

The first stones of the house date back to the 18th century — most notably in the kitchen — while the rest was added in the 19th. Since then, Maison Auzenn has seen generations come and go: muddy boots by the door, family snacks around the table, and countless fires crackling in the hearth.

In 2024, the current owners began a major renovation. Their goal? “To erase the marks of past makeovers and create the ideal holiday home — like an old family property, gently worn by time and filled with cherished moments.”

Inspired
transformation

The proud owners of Maison Auzenn? A couple with a deep love for old stone and beautiful objects. Every detail has been carefully considered, lovingly sourced, and thoughtfully placed. “We wanted the house to feel warm and timeless — almost suspended in time, yet fully rooted in the present,” they explain. Mission accomplished.

The furnishings? Almost entirely vintage, with the exception of the beds and sofa. The decor? A delicious mix of antique artworks — each one carefully framed — and rare, characterful pieces. Special mention goes to the Micky Room, where artist Michele Peretto hand-painted a dreamy, botanical mural.

Among the home’s standout treasures: a kitchen island that once served as the counter of an old Lisbon pharmacy, and a stunning draper’s table custom-designed by artisan duo Sixième Songe.

"I wanted a cocoon where we could refocus, where we could just be, together. I didn't want an exceptional house, I wanted an ideal refuge."

Nature, fresh air
and simple pleasures

Around the house, the setting practically begs you to slip on your boots. The sprawling, tree-filled park is dotted with centuries-old trees, a wide meadow perfect for impromptu games, a terrace built for big gatherings — and direct access to the GR34 trail for panoramic hikes. And after the hike? Maybe you dig for clams to cook up with the family, or pack a picnic for a late-afternoon swim. In winter, you head back inside, curl up by the wood stove, pull out a board game… and lose all sense of time.

And to keep the good times rolling beyond the doorstep, the owners happily share their favorite spots: a savory galette at Atipik Bilig in Morlaix, brunch at La Butte Plouider, and — for slipping a few souvenirs into your suitcase — textile treasures by Yves Andrieux and Vincent Jalbert, or the handcrafted creations of Véronique Clément at the summer markets.
