Brittany got us hooked! Our selection of rental homes that make you want to go on holiday
In France, the Basque Country might get all the surfing spotlight, but Brittany more than holds its own. Just look at (and try to choose between) Wabi Surf House and West is the Best — two surf-inspired stays practically on the water, ideal for board lovers near Quiberon and Quimper. With sea views and salty breezes, they’re perfect for tidal watching and fresh-air lounging. On the stunning Belle-Île-en-Mer, La Bien-Aimée nestles into a lush valley near Sauzon’s harbor — an ideal home base for exploring the island’s turquoise coves and hidden beaches.
For hikers and nature lovers, head inland to La Maison Rouge or Douarenn for a taste of Brittany’s wilder heart — think legendary forests (hello, Brocéliande), ancient standing stones, and more. And if you start to miss the sea? It’s never more than an hour away. Whether you’re into surfing, salted butter, rustic countryside, or just daydreaming of pirate tales, grab your raincoat and boots: these high-end rentals offer the best of Brittany in all its glory.
Finistère’s finest
holiday homes

Cloé and Yannick, the couple behind Douarenn, have created a warm and secluded retreat set in open meadows. Built entirely from wood, the house reflects their values of simplicity, sincerity, and authenticity. Surrounded by untouched nature, this cozy cottage is a true invitation to unplug. Centrally located in Brittany, it’s the perfect base for exploring the region. Guests can enjoy extra touches like delivered breakfasts, private chefs, cooking classes — and thoughtful, family-friendly amenities that let parents focus on what really matters: enjoying the moment.
Surprisingly, neither Cloé nor Yannick had ever set foot in Brittany before moving from Belgium in 2018 to pursue their dream. Captivated by the unspoiled landscape, they settled deep in the heart of Finistère. “We’re right in the middle,” Cloé says, “which means the discoveries are endless.”
They took their time getting to know the area before designing the house, drawing inspiration from Canadian fishing cabins, Scandinavian coziness, and their own travels. Douarenn — meaning “burrow” in Breton — perfectly captures the spirit of the place: a safe, snug spot to land, whatever the weather.

In Japanese, wabi suggests beauty in imperfection, quiet harmony, and the joy of simple things. Step inside Wabi Surf House and the philosophy is clear: minimalist interiors, carefully chosen pieces, natural textures, and a warm wooden glow.
The owner drew inspiration from surf culture, Ibiza’s bohemian spirit, and the serene minimalism of Japan and Scandinavia. The result is a peaceful, meditative space where waves, light, and wood come together to create a deep sense of calm.
Set right on the water, Wabi Surf House features large windows that flood the space with light year-round. The best moments? Sipping coffee at the garden table in the morning, or watching the sky turn gold at sunset, framed by the sea.

Côtes-d’Armor:
coastal escapes & holiday homes
Perched on a clifftop above the Bay of Saint-Brieuc, Maison Minard is pure coastal escapism. With a laid-back California vibe and artist-in-residence feel, it draws creatives and dreamers from around the world. Concrete floors and rustic wood tables set the scene for free expression — whether you’re here to write, paint, or simply unwind. The sunroom, with its sweeping ocean views, offers a dose of daily inspiration.
When it’s time to unplug, wander through the orchard garden or follow the dramatic coastal trails to Pointe de Minard. Discover nearby gems like Bréhat Island or the quiet beach at Bréhec. Craving a bit of city life? Head to Paimpol for mussels and fries by the harbor, a little window-shopping, and a crêpe to go. Just don’t stay too long — the pastel sunset over the bay is not to be missed.

Spread over 350 square meters, La Maison Rouge blends rustic stone, warm oak, and modern lines in a striking architectural balance. Steel beams and sleek marble countertops add industrial flair to this refined retreat. Outside, there’s a large swimming pool for sunbathing when the sun is out.
Tucked in the heart of Côtes-d’Armor, this home is both a peaceful retreat and a perfect base for coastal adventures. Picture charming towns like Dinan and Saint-Malo, scenic hikes along rugged cliffs, and a food scene full of Breton flavor. Just minutes away, the village of Plélan-le-Petit adds local charm with its markets and gourmet shops. It’s the best of both worlds: quiet seclusion and rich cultural discovery.
Morbihan’s
dreamiest holiday homes

The pretty garden of La Mareuille.
A pleasant countryside home for ten, La Mareuille is full of charm — with 186 m² of cozy interiors, five snug bedrooms (with hotel quality bedding), three bathrooms, and a 2,800 m² garden scented with mint and childhood memories. Located just south of Saint-Malo, this 18th-century farmhouse is a breath of fresh air.
Here, it’s easy to feel at home — only better. Mornings start with woodpeckers instead of alarms, and at dusk, deer appear at the edge of the woods. With wood stoves, a chef-worthy kitchen, and vintage tiles underfoot, La Mareuille blends rustic charm with modern comfort.
But this is more than just a beautiful house — it’s a life project. Next door, owners Romain and Sandra are building a permaculture micro-farm and edible forest. A nearby barn will soon host creative residencies and workshops. It’s a haven for families, groups of friends, remote workers, and anyone who loves reading in a hammock or playing board games by the fire.
Reaching wild Belle-Île-en-Mer takes effort — a ferry ride from Quiberon — but the journey is part of the magic. Time slows, priorities shift, and amazing nature takes the lead. La Bien-Aimée, a charming 1980s home tucked near Sauzon, sits quietly behind a garden gate on a former hayfield. This place feels like a secret, a peaceful world of its own.
The island’s beauty is the stuff of legend: 52 beaches, turquoise waters, and 85 kilometers of scenic trails to hike or bike. Start your day with fresh goat cheese from Ferme du Menhir, end it with a kouign-amann from Le Fournil bakery. In between? Swim, wander, and soak it all in.

Owner of Maison Passage Yann grew up right next door. His great-uncle built the original house, and his great-grandfather founded the village’s oyster farm. Today, two homes — La Maison and L’Atelier — welcome guests with understated elegance. One is white, the other a sleek black cabin inspired by traditional sheds, both rooted in local materials and mindful design.
With direct water access, this is Brittany’s “simple life” at its best. Yann, a local, shares insider tips and lends out bikes — ideal for coastal rides from La Trinité-sur-Mer to Carnac, with a crêpe waiting at the finish line. From tidepooling to island-hopping, there’s plenty to explore nearby. Come sunset, grab some oysters, head to the terrace, and watch the light play across the waves.
Born from a longing for open horizons, West is the Best is the brainchild of Joran Briand — a designer inspired by the surf breaks of Mexico and California. In 2020, he stumbled upon an old boat hangar on Quiberon’s wild coast and turned it into a striking surf loft.
Here, life moves with the tide — easy, spontaneous, and free. With surf spots like Port Bara and Port Blanc just minutes away, early-morning dips and impromptu sunset sessions aren’t just activities — they’re part of the rhythm.
