An iconic villa on the French Riviera

"La Corniche appeals equally to athletes, intellectuals, dreamers, and artists."

Perched on a cliff above the Bay of Toulon, La Corniche de Rocabella rises like an open-air amphitheater facing the Mediterranean. Spread across three hectares with six buildings and sixteen elegant rooms, the estate welcomes families, newlyweds, business teams, entrepreneurs on retreat, or yogis seeking stillness. Exclusive yet inviting, it feels like an oversized family home where everyone finds their own favorite corner — all brought to life by JB Rudelle, sea-loving entrepreneur and owner of the estate.

A unique
legacy

Built between 1900 and 1930, La Corniche has lived many lives. After World War II, it became an orphanage, then a summer camp for the children of railway workers. They slept in tents, learned to swim in the vast pool, and discovered an open-air school of joy.

After a complete renovation finished in May 2025, that spirit remains intact: Mediterranean grandeur softened by sunlit simplicity. ‘It’s a mix of antique and modern, almost as if a Greek temple had crossed paths with a contemporary loft,’ the owner likes to say.

Somewhere
between thrift finds and bespoke

Each room tells its own story: the Calypso suite with its sweeping sea view, the Turquoise suite with its private garden, and others with evocative names—Olive, Lilac, Coral, Bordeaux—each reflecting a mood and a color. In total, 31 beds and 16 bathrooms, and that’s only the beginning.

The décor mixes custom-made pieces with vintage finds, striking a balance between refinement and warmth. Nothing feels like it came from a catalogue; everything has been chosen with care to give the house a lived-in, vibrant character.

As for favorite spots, the owners mention three without hesitation: the first floor of the Temple, where a window frames the sea like a giant screen; the infinity pool, naturally; and the intimate charm of the Calypso suite.

"What makes the house unique? It’s the feeling of being perched above the sea."

A place
to live and celebrate

At La Corniche, holidays take on many rhythms: pool parties with music, padel matches with the Mediterranean as umpire, sunrise yoga, chess marathons between swims, or long siestas in the shade with eyes fixed on the horizon.

For events, everything is possible: weddings for up to 80 guests, residential seminars, gala dinners, art openings, intimate receptions… The estate’s different spaces—the Temple, Frégate, Caravelle—adapt to every occasion and every mood.

And because no one should waste time running errands, breakfast and dinner are included, so guests can simply enjoy the place and the moment.

In Le Pradet, a small wooden cabin from the 1950s has been completely renovated. A holiday for five, spent between the creeks, the beach just a few minutes away, and the terrace with a panoramic view of the Mediterranean.

Une vue d'une rambarde en bois surplombant une mer calme. Une dense végétation verte entoure la scène, et une plateforme en béton s'étend dans l'eau. Des arbres encadrent l'image, avec un horizon dégagé visible en arrière-plan.
