The good life beneath the pines, Pyla-style

"On holiday here, guests can unwind, stay active, enjoy the beach, and savour fresh oysters…"

In Pyla-sur-Mer, where the dunes meet the waves, Villa Enia stands like an elegant lookout between forest and ocean. Nestled in a lush green haven, this 220 m² home welcomes up to twelve guests in an atmosphere that’s both chic and effortlessly relaxed. To the west, the view opens onto the ocean and its glowing sunsets; to the east, the pines unfold under the golden morning light.

A private path leads straight to the beach, or just a few steps take you to the heated saltwater pool. Here, life moves to the rhythm of the sea breeze: breakfast on the terrace, a nap in the garden, dinner under the stars. The house has a rare kind of aura — it invites you to slow down, breathe, and live outdoors.

A story of family
and style

The lovely terrace where one can end the day.

The lovely terrace where one can end the day.

Built in 1936 by a Breton military doctor returning from Indochina and Timbuktu, Villa Enia has remained in the same family ever since. Nearly a century later, its story continues, now carried by the fourth generation.

Renovated in 2023 by Norwegian-born architect Theresa Brunvoll-Cochet, the villa reveals a subtly modern take on the Neo-Basque style: red tiles, reimagined timber framing, bright open spaces, and a flowing layout designed for relaxation. “I wanted to preserve its original spirit while making it timeless. A house should pass through generations without losing its character,” she explains.

Inspired interiors
and suspended moments

Inside, the villa radiates a sense of balance and calm. White sets the tone, softened by natural materials—light wood, linen, and stone. Sunlight floods every space, gliding across the signature table designed by the owner herself, the true heart of the living area. The six bedrooms, including four master suites, offer comfort and understated elegance, while the children’s room with its bunk beds is a little haven of joy for the youngest guests.

Upstairs, the west-facing living room frames a postcard view of the ocean. On the ground floor, the open kitchen extends naturally onto the terrace—perfect for a morning coffee beneath the pines. And when evening comes, the plancha, barbecue, and summer kitchen set the scene for lively, sun-soaked dinners.

The day begins with laps in the pool.

Between relaxation
and ocean adventures

At Villa Enia, boredom simply doesn’t exist. Stretch out by the pool, lose yourself in Marguerite Yourcenar’s Oriental Tales, nap beneath the pines, or take a pinasse cruise to the nearby oyster-farming villages. Every moment here invites you to slow down and savor life.

For those who like to stay active, the region is a true playground. Surfing is just 15 minutes away, wakeboarding awaits on Lake Cazaux, sailing is five minutes from the villa, and golf and tennis are only a short drive. The famous climb up the Dune du Pilat is, of course, a must. Food lovers will also be delighted, with oysters at the port of La Teste, pastries from Guignard, a Michelin-starred dinner at the Skiff Club, or an aperitif with a view at La Co(o)rniche.
