Perched above Porto Rotondo, Villa Mama Smeralda is a holiday home where comfort, charm, and sweeping views of the Mediterranean come together in perfect harmony. It’s the kind of place that instantly feels like home — where relaxation, adventure, and shared moments unfold with ease.
A villa nestled atop the Costa Smeralda
"The villa offers breathtaking views over the bay of Porto Rotondo, perfectly positioned to soak in every sunset against a stunning natural backdrop."
Built in the 1960s by a true globetrotter at heart, Villa Mama Smeralda is a tribute to Mediterranean serenity and the organic architecture inspired by Michele Busiri Vici. Its rounded curves, whitewashed walls, and forms carved into the rocky landscape speak of understated elegance and a deep harmony with nature. “Every detail reflects her spirit — authentic, generous, and open to the world,” says the current owner. A true haven, suspended between sea and stone, where time flows to the rhythm of the waves (with the first beach just a ten-minute drive away).
In 2021, the current owners fell for this hidden gem — and with passion and care, they set out to renovate it in a way that honored its original spirit. Their goal: to preserve the soul of the house while adding modern comfort and understated elegance. Natural materials, local craftsmanship, and touches of ethno-design were thoughtfully chosen to enhance the home’s existing charm. “We wanted to keep that sophisticated simplicity of the 1960s, while creating a warm, cosmopolitan space where life just feels good,” explains the owner, whose family moves between Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

The architecture of Villa Mama Smeralda is all soft, organic lines—shaped as if by wind and time. Its whitewashed walls and rounded forms capture a deeply Mediterranean simplicity, where nothing is superfluous and every detail reflects quiet elegance, in perfect harmony with the surrounding landscape. The villa was fully renovated, with care and intention, by its new owners.
Guided by an ethno-design sensibility, they blended local craftsmanship, natural materials, and unique finds from around the world to create a space that feels both warm and cosmopolitan. The result is a thoughtful transformation—true to the villa’s original spirit, yet infused with fresh energy and a contemporary sense of living.

The décor strikes a graceful balance between tradition and modernity. The carved juniper wood front door begins the story of the house before you even step inside. At its heart is the open-plan kitchen — a lively, welcoming space where coffee brews, spontaneous recipes come to life, and laughter fills the air.
Sunlit interiors flow naturally onto terraces with sweeping views. And then there’s the rooftop… “Without a doubt, the most magical spot in the house,” says the owner — the perfect place for a sunset aperitif, suspended between sky and sea.

Long live
Sardinia
Here, life is all about savoring the dolce vita — a gentle rhythm of discovery, relaxation, and simple pleasures. Days unfold effortlessly with family gelatos in Porto Rotondo, strolls through the charming streets of San Pantaleo, or a stylish escape to Porto Cervo.
For the more adventurous, the crystal-clear waters around Mortorio, Tavolara, and the La Maddalena islands are just waiting to be explored. “Each day is an invitation to savor the moment — surrounded by untouched nature, understated luxury, and the Mediterranean art of living,” says the owner.
