Tucked between olive groves and postcard-perfect villages, Villa Olea is a former family home turned peaceful retreat, now available to rent in Puyvert. It offers four suites, a Mediterranean garden, a pool with a view, and all the laid-back charm of life in Provence.
A spotlight bastide overlooking the Luberon
"The landscape around the villa shifts with the seasons—lavender fields, cherry blossoms, poppies, olive trees, vineyards, and sunflowers each taking their turn."
Step through the gates of Villa Olea, and it’s immediately clear: this is a place made for unwinding. Nestled in the hills of the Luberon, this character-filled bastide comfortably hosts up to ten guests—with four en-suite bedrooms and a fifth that’s just as welcoming. Inside, a bright, spacious living area and an open kitchen made for lingering over shared meals. Outside, a Mediterranean garden where lavender, cypress, and olive trees set the rhythm for slow living.
The pool, framed by hedges as tall as Roman columns, feels like it’s always been part of the landscape. Everything here is designed to blur the lines between indoors and out—natural materials, a warm yet pared-back décor, and light that dances across the old stone walls. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to stay far longer than you meant to.

The showstopper? A stunning pool with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.
Behind Villa Olea is a family who fell head over heels for this place steeped in history. “During the first renovations, we found handwritten notes from 1906 listing sacks of flour,” the owner recalls. The main house dates back to 1900, and the old barn next door is even older—it was already marked on the Napoleonic land registry of 1833.
Once part of the local farming life, the property has now been lovingly reimagined. “We wanted to preserve its soul while adding our own sense of hospitality and beauty.” The result? A peaceful retreat, thoughtfully designed as an ode to the Luberon and its traditions.
A renovation
crafted by four hands
In 2023, the project came to life with the help of Fabre Immobilier and Barth Architecture. The goal? To create a holiday home that feels like it’s yours—where every detail feels just right. “We wanted something elegant, but never over the top. A calm, meditative atmosphere.” Mission accomplished: old stone walls meet natural lime plaster, traditional terracotta tiles play off sleek, contemporary lines, and every carefully chosen object has a story to tell.
Each suite has its own personality—whether it’s frescoes, private balconies, sculpted basins, or freestanding bathtubs. Light pours into every room, while the use of noble materials creates that serene, sun-drenched feel we love in Southern homes. Special shoutout to the Lucea suite, with its double shower and stunning view, and the Cypria suite, with its hand-painted mural.
Once you’ve settled in, it’s hard to tear yourself away—but the area is full of reasons to venture out. Just 10 minutes down the road, the village of Lourmarin is a little gem: have dinner by the fire at La Louche à Beurre, sip a cocktail at La Maison Café, or grab an ice cream from Ravi. Don’t miss the Friday morning market—or the Maison du Gibassier, where you can try the famous Pomponette.
Craving a bit of nature? Hit the road and explore the region’s hilltop villages—Cucuron, Ansouis, Cadenet, or a little farther afield, the stars of the Golden Triangle: Gordes, Roussillon, and Ménerbes. Depending on the season, you might stumble upon a lavender field, a sea of poppies, or cherry trees in full bloom. Wine lovers can indulge in refined tastings at La Cavale and La Verrerie, while art and food enthusiasts will find their happy place at Château La Coste—where cutting-edge architecture, contemporary art, and Michelin-starred dining all come together.

Nature everywhere.
