A sun-kissed hideaway in the Andalusian countryside

"The villa’s location is perfect for exploring the white villages and nearby mountains, or simply kicking back on the beaches of the Costa de la Luz."

Tucked away in a natural haven just outside Arcos de la Frontera, in Spain, Casa de Arcos welcomes up to nine guests with a layout that’s as warm as it is unique: five independent buildings arranged around a flower-filled patio, all bathed in sunlight. The property includes three triple bedrooms — each with a double bed, a built-in daybed, and a private bathroom — a spacious living area with an open kitchen and fireplace, a home cinema, a lookout tower for soaking up the views, and even a treasure trove of games.

Outside, a pool surrounded by orange trees — their blossoms filling the air with fragrance in spring, their fruit ripe for the picking in winter — and a sun-drenched terrace invite long, lazy siestas. All around, century-old olive groves and fields that sway with wheat or sunflowers, depending on the season.

The story of Casa de Arcos began like a holiday romance. In 2015, Justine and Emmanuël discovered the house during a family trip. ‘From that very first summer, we knew this place would hold a special place in our lives. There was an instant connection — to the house, the village, the people.’

For several years, they kept coming back, always with the same joy. Then, in 2019, they became the owners. When the pandemic hit in 2020, it was in this house that they spent the lockdown. ‘That was a turning point. Without even realizing it, we’d put down roots. Leaving for Belgium again was incredibly hard.’ In 2021, they took the leap and settled there for good, along with their two children, Ito and Ninn.

"It’s a place where time slows down, and life follows the rhythm of nature."

A gentle
renovation

Although the house had already been renovated once by the previous owners — originally a simple barn — Justine and Emmanuël wanted to make it work for their everyday life. ‘We wanted it to be beautiful, practical, and warm. A home to live in.’ They redesigned the pool and terrace, modernized the kitchen, created a cinema room, and fine-tuned every detail — all without ever compromising the Andalusian soul of the place.

The result? A subtle balance between local rustic charm and modern comfort. ‘The house is both simple and refined. We didn’t want anything flashy, just to create an atmosphere where you feel at home.’ As for the decor, it’s all about simplicity: raw materials, soft colors, and carefully chosen pieces. Special mention goes to the turntable, which sets the tone for the holiday.

Arcos,
the white villages, and the sea

Casa de Arcos is perfectly placed for exploring the treasures of the region. Just a 15-minute drive away, the village of Arcos de la Frontera unfolds like a living postcard, with its whitewashed streets, lively squares, tapas bars, and breathtaking views.

And then there are the Pueblos Blancos, a string of hilltop villages waiting to be discovered along winding roads, hikes through the Sierra de Grazalema, getaways to Ronda or Seville, and of course, the golden beaches of the Costa de la Luz, stretching between Cadiz and Tarifa. At Casa de Arcos, you come for a stay and leave with a longing to stay forever.
