A former 19th-century farmhouse, La Maison Rousse has been transformed into a refuge where understated chic and rustic soul blend beautifully. Set among lavender fields and vineyards, it offers the perfect setting for group getaways, far from the hustle and bustle.
A 19th-century Provençal farmhouse
“Morning trips to the market followed by cooking lunch back at the house, meals under the wisteria, an afternoon nap with the shutters slightly open and the cicadas singing, children darting between the pool, ping-pong and pétanque, long tables that stretch well into the evening…”
Welcome to La Maison Rousse, a spacious home that truly lives up to its name—especially at sunset, when its façade takes on warm coppery tones. Far from crowded hotspots, this former 19th-century farmstead sits in the heart of the Provençal countryside, a genuine green haven surrounded by lavender fields, orchards, and vineyards. Originally, the thick-stone farmhouse sheltered livestock on the ground floor and the family upstairs. Over time, it fell into ruin before being restored by its first caretakers, and later winning the hearts of Justine and Julien, its current owners.
This couple, who left Paris to settle in Provence eight years ago, fell in love with the place instantly. ‘We only visited once—and that was enough,’ they recall. Since purchasing the property in 2017, they’ve undertaken meticulous work: restoring the roof, adding a pool that wasn’t there before, and above all, transforming the décor piece by piece as they made new discoveries. They envisioned the house as a place of hospitality—somewhere that could ‘come alive through our guests.’ Today, the mas has kept its agricultural soul while fully embracing the present: comfortable, welcoming, and delightfully chic.

A rustic-chic
spirit
La Maison Rousse follows in the tradition of Provençal mas: simple lines, two levels, and a seamless flow that encourages indoor-outdoor living from morning to night. With seven spacious bedrooms and five bathrooms, it can accommodate up to 18 guests, unfolding across several bright and functional volumes. The layout is designed for group living: a vast living area, an open kitchen, and spectacular shared tables, like the large custom-made farmhouse table.
The décor is a celebration of effortless elegance: ‘We tackled it room by room, following our discoveries,’ explain Justine and Julien, who sourced characterful furniture, antique mirrors, and vintage sinks to pair with designer lighting and natural materials such as linen, wood, and stone.
Their favorites? The view of the garden ‘in the morning when we open the shutters, the way the greens come together’; a sky-blue double Art Deco sink, hunted down over three years; and the small wrought-iron bench, ‘the perfect spot for an afternoon nap in the shade of the centennial plane tree.
“It’s a place where you take the time to make memories that will last all year long.”

La Maison Rousse is the perfect hideaway for families and groups of friends who enjoy making the most of the house while exploring the region. Favorite holiday rituals? ‘Morning trips to the market, then cooking lunch at home, meals under the wisteria, an afternoon nap with shutters slightly open to the sound of cicadas,’ and of course, long tables that stretch well into the evening. The outdoor spaces invite total relaxation: a one-hectare enclosed and secure garden, a pool open from spring to late autumn, a barbecue, a ping-pong table, and the essential pétanque court.
When it comes to services, everything is designed for comfort: high-speed internet, kid-friendly amenities, and even the option to hire a private chef or organize yoga sessions in the garden. Outside of holiday periods, the property also hosts wellness retreats, creative residencies, and brand photoshoots.
