A former 19th-century farmhouse, La Maison Rousse has been transformed into a refuge where understated chic and rustic soul blend beautifully. Set among lavender fields and vineyards, it offers the perfect setting for group getaways, far from the hustle and bustle.
A 19th-century Provençal farmhouse
“Morning trips to the market followed by cooking lunch back at the house, meals under the wisteria, an afternoon nap with the shutters slightly open and the cicadas singing, children darting between the pool, ping-pong and pétanque, long tables that stretch well into the evening…”
Welcome to La Maison Rousse, a spacious home that truly lives up to its name—especially at sunset, when its façade takes on warm coppery tones. Far from crowded hotspots, this former 19th-century farmstead sits in the heart of the Provençal countryside, a genuine green haven surrounded by lavender fields, orchards, and vineyards. Originally, the thick-stone farmhouse sheltered livestock on the ground floor and the family upstairs. Over time, it fell into ruin before being restored by its first caretakers, and later winning the hearts of Justine and Julien, its current owners.
This couple left Paris to settle in Provence eight years ago, and they fell for the place instantly. « We only visited once and that was enough », they recall. Since purchasing the property in 2017, they have taken on the restoration with real care: repairing the roof, adding a pool that did not exist before and updating the décor piece by piece as they made new discoveries. They imagined the house as a place built around hospitality, somewhere that would come alive through the guests who stayed here. Today, the mas has kept its agricultural soul while stepping fully into the present, with a comfort and a natural elegance that give the whole place a warm, welcoming energy.

A farmhouse table big enough for everyone to gather around.
A rustic-chic
spirit
La Maison Rousse follows the classic spirit of a Provençal mas, with simple lines, two levels and an easy flow that invites you to move effortlessly between indoors and outdoors from morning to night. With seven spacious bedrooms and five bathrooms, it can host up to eighteen guests across several bright and functional volumes. Everything has been designed with groups in mind, from the generous living area and the open kitchen to the spectacular shared tables, including the large custom-made farmhouse table.
The décor is all about effortless elegance. « We worked on it room by room, guided by what we found along the way », explain Justine and Julien, who sourced characterful pieces, antique mirrors and vintage sinks, and paired them with designer lighting and natural materials such as linen, wood and stone. And their favourite details stand out clearly. The view of the garden in the morning, « when we open the shutters and all the greens blend together ». The sky blue double Art Deco sink that they spent three years searching for. And the small wrought iron bench, « the perfect place for an afternoon nap in the shade of the century old plane tree ».
“It’s a place where you take the time to make memories that will last all year long.”

La Maison Rousse is an ideal hideaway for families and groups of friends who like to enjoy the house as much as the surrounding region. And the favourite holiday rituals speak for themselves: « Morning trips to the market, then cooking lunch back at the house, meals under the wisteria, an afternoon nap with the shutters slightly open and the cicadas in the background », and of course the long tables that carry the evening well past sunset. The outdoor areas are made for slowing down, with a one hectare enclosed garden, a pool open from spring to late autumn, a barbecue, a ping pong table and the essential pétanque court.
Everything has been planned for comfort, from high speed internet to kid friendly amenities, with the option to bring in a private chef or arrange yoga sessions in the garden. Outside school holidays, the property also hosts wellness retreats, creative residencies and brand photoshoots.
