We made the deliberate choice of Courchevel 1550, the authentic family heart of the resort.

Facing the Dent du Villard and the Vanoise peaks, the 3-story Chalet is located at the heart of the world’s largest ski area, Les Trois Vallées, in the unspoiled hamlet of Les Brigues in Courchevel 1550: a natural choice for the two founders of the Iconic House collection, both of whom are keen skiers. “As opposed to the bling of Courchevel 1850. This choice reflects our vision of authentic, uninhibited luxury,” says Thibaud Elzière.

An audacity embodied by references to modernist architecture and the remarkable work of Charlotte Perriand. This approach captures a quest for charm and authenticity without unnecessary excess, a rarity in the Courchevel resort. In 2022, following nine months of work and the addition of an extension that seamlessly blends with the original building, the Chalet now features eight comfortable en-suite rooms, each unique in its design. Among these are a family suite and three semi-buried dens, whose windows provide stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

“It was essential for this new place to retain what makes the Iconic House Collection so strong today: rarity, exceptional facilities, singularity, authentic charm, and a central place given to local art and crafts.” says Robin Michel.

On the main floor, the professional kitchen is warm and friendly, ideal for breakfast gatherings. The large living room, the centerpiece of the Chalet, exudes a warm atmosphere, with a fireplace nestled in a 7-ton Mont-Blanc granite stone. Its vast picture windows overlooking the mountains invite you to relax. On the ceiling, motifs painted on the beams by Atelier Felicita echo the modernist buildings of the Flaine resort.

After a long day’s skiing, you’ll be delighted to gather on the outdoor terrace, surrounded by fir trees and the brazier, to sip a hot chocolate or a local beer brewed just 15 minutes from the Chalet. Heated indoor pool, sauna, hammam, fully-equipped gym, yoga studio, herbal tea room… the Sports & Wellness area is worthy of the finest hotels.

And to complete the avalanche of facilities and services: a Kids Paradise designed in the spirit of a den for little explorers, an incredible ski room to get equipped and back on the slopes in no time, a room with a giant screen designed as a cozy cocoon, a grocery store set up in the kitchen, a massage room…

A tribute to local art and artisans

Chalet Le 1550 is home to a collection of quirky, curious, and unique artworks created in collaboration with studio Joséphine Fossey Office, based on the artist’s taste and with nods to the mountains. Outside, like a totemic figure, a wonderful sculpture in corten steel by local artist Jean-Baptiste Rozand welcomes visitors. It evokes the elegance of a skier. At the entrance of the Chalet, a splendid oak console was custom-designed by young designer Ateljé Loupchat, a former designer close to Starck who has opened his own cabinet-making workshop.

Central to the décor, fabrics lend a real identity to the interiors in both bedrooms and communal areas. A host of curtains, cushions, and wall hangings were made to measure by Atelier des Frères, a local upholsterer and designer. These textiles are characterized by bright hues and geometric shapes, so dear to the art and architecture of the 60s and 70s.

In one room, local artist Joséphine Audebert reveals her vision of the mountains, while in the kitchen, Géraldine Roussel creates two ceiling frescoes inspired by modernist architecture. The large living room is home to an immense library, a signature of the Iconic House Collection, crammed with art books, adventure novels, and unusual antiques… all designed to resemble a cabinet of arty and literary curiosities. The library stands alongside a work created for Iconic House by artist Jean Jullien.

The collection includes black and white photographs from the Librairie des Alpes, vintage postcards from Courchevel, posters from the Yvon Lambert Collection, and prints from a series of photographs by Elodie Vilallon.
