Just an hour from Paris and fifteen minutes from Giverny, Le Clos des Martines nestles at the entrance of a small Norman village, on the Vexin plateau. Here, everyday life is left behind: a heated pool, a sauna overlooking the countryside, dinner beneath the trees… An enchanting escape, as chic as it is bucolic.
A countryside getaway in Normandy
“Here, we celebrate, collaborate, recharge, and above all share precious moments in a refined and intimate setting—just steps from Giverny and in the heart of Normandy, with its wealth of nature, culture, and gastronomy.”
"We wanted the house to keep its soul, while opening itself to the beautiful stories of those who will come to stay here," confides the owner. Mission accomplished: built in the 19th century by Alfred Saintard for his young wife Pauline, the residence has preserved its role as a family home. In 2025, after more than 175 years, it is reinventing itself to finally welcome the public. Roof tiles restored to their original design, zinc finials hand-shaped by a craftsman, stained-glass windows carefully brought back to life… A true country retreat, just one hour from Paris.
Its typically Norman architecture blends gracefully into a park with formal French gardens. ‘We respected the landscape without betraying the history of the house,’ explains Géraldine Fortin, the landscape architect who designed the grounds. The result: a solid home, framed by flowerbeds and vistas composed like living postcards.
Old building
contemporary design
Inside Le Clos des Martines, one moves seamlessly from antique parquet floors to an ultra-modern kitchen. ‘We preserved the moldings, the mirrors, the fireplaces—while imagining a very contemporary décor!’ explains Lucie Loistron, who designed the interiors. Clean lines, noble materials, and a warm atmosphere set the tone.
Our favorites? The custom-made kitchen, crowned with a chandelier that invites you to cook feasts late into the night. The SleekBar, hidden beneath the house—perfect for toasting, dancing, singing… And of course, the park, with its formal French gardens and even a giant chessboard for life-size games.
Here, luxury is understated: no fuss, just everything you need to feel both away from it all and right at home.

From the outside, one can admire the typical Norman architecture.
“The stained-glass windows of Le Clos des Martines, true symbols imbued with subtlety and emotion, tell the story of the place. They filter and transform the light, blending artisanal craftsmanship with luminous intimacy. Each one, bearing the initials of those who loved the house, embodies memory, heritage, and discreet luxury.”
Luxury, peace,
and quiet

Swimming session as soon as the sun comes out.
At Le Clos des Martines, time slows to the true rhythm of a holiday. An early-morning dip in the pool, a sauna break with views over the countryside, reading in the shade of a tree, or yoga facing the park… ‘We wanted a flexible place, just as suitable for a family vacation as for a team retreat,’ explains the owner.
And when hunger calls? Head to Le Jardin des Plumes, David Gallienne’s Michelin-starred restaurant in Giverny, before strolling in Monet’s footsteps through this charming village of painters. Or climb up to Château Gaillard in Les Andelys, then wander through Lyons-la-Forêt, voted the most beautiful village in France. Just one hour from Paris, Normandy promises a flawless getaway!
