A reimagined Art Deco chalet in Megève

“Set high above Megève, one of the Alps’ most coveted destinations, the Sarto pays tribute to architect Henry Jacques Le Même.”

After making its mark in Courchevel and unveiling its first private mansion in Paris, Iconic House continues its Alpine ascent. Its latest jewel is Le Sarto, a legendary Megève chalet designed in 1941 by architect Henry Jacques Le Même, the visionary behind the famed ‘Chalet du Skieur.’

Nestled just below the Calvaire, this Art Deco treasure has been reimagined by Studio CLAVES in close collaboration with Iconic House. A one-of-a-kind setting where guests enjoy top-notch services throughout their stay.

Built in 1941, Le Sarto is no ordinary chalet. It stands as an architectural manifesto. Here, Henry Jacques Le Même, a pioneer of Alpine Art Deco, experimented with his distinctive style, blending geometric lines, Scandinavian folklore and a strong mountain identity.

Almost a century later, Iconic House carries the torch with a renovation that feels like a living museum: bold colors, ornamental details, carefully sourced materials, and even a hallway dedicated to the architect, designed as an archival gallery. ‘We wanted every corner to tell a story,’ explains Robin Michel, the other half of the duo. The chalet becomes a time capsule, balancing respect for its heritage with a sense of contemporary luxury.

detail

But beyond its walls, it is the atmosphere that truly sets Le Sarto apart. The chalet exudes the charm of a warm, welcoming home where you can leave your skis at the door and your worries behind. All of it comes with the services of a luxury hotel: a chalet manager, a dedicated housekeeping team, and above all, a private chef creating menus inspired by the local terroir.

Step outside and the seasons unfold. In winter, Megève offers its legendary slopes. In summer, it is time for hiking boots, terrace aperitifs with panoramic views, a summer kitchen and a heated pool. Le Sarto is alive all year round, a mountain cocoon with no low season. ‘We want to offer our guests the intimacy of a home with the magic of a hotel,’ concludes Robin Michel. Mission accomplished: at Le Sarto, Art Deco meets the art of living, delighting every guest.

Inside, Le Sarto is far from a rustic cabin. It offers seven bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, along with a dormitory designed especially for children, a vast living room, and a professional-grade kitchen. And for the highlight: a wellness area with an indoor pool, sauna, hammam, yoga room and gym.

Upstairs, contemporary artists have left their mark: tiles by Maximilien Pellet, a fresco by Louise Defente, ceramics by Héloïse Rival. The chalet feels like a lived-in gallery. ‘We love our homes to be alive, spaces where you can both relax and be inspired,’ says Thibaud Elzière.
