Perched atop the lush hills of the Perche Sarthois, Maison Légère is a lovingly restored former farmhouse turned eco-friendly retreat. Designed for good food, deep sleep, and the simple joy of slowing down, it’s a place where life hits pause—in the best way.
The ideal stylish country retreat
"The atmosphere of the house is deeply soothing — a sense of calm flows from its minimalist decor, inspired by island architecture, and its secluded setting in the heart of nature."
Maison Légère offers 200 square meters of serenity perched on a hillside, with sweeping views over open fields and the Château de Montmirail—all nestled within two hectares of lush greenery. Everything here is designed to help you soak in the peace, the light, and the present moment: three spacious bedrooms, three bathrooms, a generous 70 m² living room with a fireplace, and a fully equipped open kitchen.
Special mention goes to the generous south-facing garden — perfect for laying out a blanket on the grass and greeting Charlotte and Paco, the two donkeys who gently watch over the harmony of the place. This is a countryside retreat just two hours from Paris, where you can truly breathe — in every sense of the word — while soaking in the sweeping views of the Perche Sarthois landscape.
A home
to live, breathe, and take it all in

The story of Maison Légère begins in Paris, in the offices of a sustainable fashion brand. Anouck worked in market development, Jean-Baptiste in logistics. It was both a professional and personal spark — they shared the same vision, including a strong desire to create a project that reflected who they were: rooted in nature, sustainable, and inspiring. “We had this shared dream of a refuge,” Anouck explains, “a place to reconnect and find calm.”
In 2021, during a visit to a former 1870 farmhouse perched on a hillside, they fell in love. The land, the neighbor’s donkeys, the distant château, the light — everything clicked. The decision was instant: this was where their project would come to life.
"At Maison Légère, life moves at a slower pace — perfectly summed up by our motto: 'Eat well, sleep well, live well.'"
A renovation
crafted by four hands
From 2022 to 2025, Anouck and Jean-Baptiste rolled up their sleeves for an ambitious eco-renovation. They tackled everything from insulation to salvaging materials, reworking the layout to create a home that’s both energy-efficient and intentionally designed. With a bit of help on the roof and some electrical work, they did the rest themselves — even designing the kitchen, complete with a built-in compost system integrated right into the countertop.
Once the renovation was complete, it was time to furnish and decorate Maison Légère. The couple developed a distinctive aesthetic: a mix of island-inspired architecture, raw materials, and carefully curated vintage finds. Ninety percent of the furniture is second-hand, handpicked by Anouck through her brand Superchinerie, which specializes in tableware. Some pieces are even available for purchase — perfect for guests who want to take home a little piece of the experience.
The white walls, finished in smooth plaster, offer a soft, minimalist, mineral backdrop. “It’s a blank page, a reset,” says Anouck. In every room, there’s something special to catch the eye: the pink Courrèges sink, the sunlit landing transformed into a workspace, the black ceramic floors that echo Lanzarote’s lava. A living space that’s both graphic and poetic.

The Perche Sarthois:
a hidden gem to explore

On holiday at Maison Légère, there’s no need to venture far to explore or indulge in local flavors. Pick up award-winning meat in Montmirail, grab a crusty baguette from the bakery in Authon, or treat yourself to a proper feast at the cheese shop in Théligny. Saturday mornings are made for market-hopping — La Bazoche-Gouët or La Ferté-Bernard are both worth the stroll — followed by a leisurely pause at Bistronome or Oiseau Oiseau.
For nature lovers, the Bois Vinet and Herminette ponds offer a peaceful, bucolic escape. No need for a packed itinerary here — Maison Légère invites you to slow down, wrap yourself in a blanket under a tree, read, work remotely with great wifi, or pet the donkeys. The fire crackles, the countryside stretches endlessly. Here, you can do nothing… or do it all. That’s the kind of freedom Maison Légère offers!
