A touch of California dreaming at Villa Sunset, perched above the Mediterranean in Marseille. This stunning contemporary white villa is sure to captivate design enthusiasts.

A Californian dream in Marseille

"Located in the hills of the Bompard district, the villa overlooks the Corniche and offers an incredible view of the sea and the Frioul Islands."

In the Phocaean city, the Bompard district rises above the iconic Corniche Kennedy, concealing a striking white building with sharp angles reminiscent of a Californian villa. Welcome to Villa Sunset—a name that nods to its Golden State inspiration. This stunning holiday home boasts breathtaking sea views and unforgettable sunsets.

Built in 2019, this sleek, bright, and airy villa is sure to charm vacationers with a taste for architecture. Featuring a pool, a garden, and a spacious terrace overlooking the Mediterranean, it offers a peaceful retreat just ten minutes from the best spots in Marseille’s 7th arrondissement and 15 minutes from the Old Port. Designed to accommodate eight guests across four spacious suites spread over two floors.

What surprises travelers as they step into Villa Sunset? The seamless blend of indoor and outdoor spaces creates a sense of openness, where boundaries seem to disappear, and living flows effortlessly between the two. Designed by Marseille architect and designer Margaux Fritz, the choice of materials enhances this harmony, making the terrace and garden feel like natural extensions of the interior.

A standout feature is the stunning green marble, used throughout the villa: on the facade—perfectly complementing the white building and the dark wood of the front door and terrace—in the kitchen, one of the bathrooms, and even the pool. Everywhere, expansive windows and a careful balance of materials create a visual harmony that feels almost like an optical illusion.

A design
gem

Inside Villa Sunset, the decor is a testament to the vision of Margaux Fritz, a Marseille-born architect and designer. A touch of seventies charm can be found throughout, with iconic pieces thoughtfully placed—Warren Platner chairs, a cascading Verpan pendant light made of seashells, a Knoll table, and Le Corbusier armchairs.

One bathroom showcases the villa’s signature green marble, while others are like tiled jewelry boxes in shades of red, white, or blue. Wood features prominently as well—from headboards to the bar in the living area—bringing a retro touch that complements the villa’s sleek and elegant aesthetic. The result? A vintage-inspired yet perfectly harmonious design.
