A industrial loft paying homage to Surf culture on the Quiberon Peninsula

"An alternative and adaptable space where curated decor changes at the same pace as the Breton weather."

The West is the Best loft house project was born out of a deep passion for travel and a longing for distant places, particularly by one half of the designer duo Briand-Berthereau – Joran Briand. After journeys along the Pacific coast of Mexico and California, he sought to create a living space in Southern Brittany that embodied the nomadic spirit of these regions. It was on the Quiberon Peninsula – with its end-of-the-world vibes – that he fortuitously stumbled upon an old boat shed in 2020. This industrial space, sprawling over 200m2, afforded him the creative freedom to design an office, an open kitchen leading into a living room, and two beautiful bedrooms!

As word-of-mouth about this distinctive property spread, the house has already opened its doors to all visitors who share the owner's love for vast spaces. With its glass walls, skylight facing the sky, and two terraces, West is the Best offers panoramic views of the Breton Moor, showcasing its constantly shifting atmosphere. A secluded refuge – also an artist's residence on occasion – where one can enjoy isolation to dream, create freely... and of course, surf!West is the Best" or the choice of a stay in raw scenery — just like its landscape

West is the Best or the choice of a stay in raw scenery
just like its landscape

Because his vision of interior design is synonymous with simplicity and freedom, Joran Briand has envisioned modular spaces that focus on the essentials while honoring the original elements. Halfway between a very personal reinterpretation of Casa Wabi, Californian Surf Houses, and industrial lofts, this living experience is sure to attract those with a keen eye for aesthetics. Concrete floors, galvanized metal, or stainless steel: raw materials that could echo more urban environments... but not in this case! The windswept landscape outside every window constantly reminds us of the Quiberon Peninsula's wild beauty. We are undeniably in Brittany. A destination with changing light, 'particularly striking in the evening on the first-floor terrace,' as Joran points out, fostering reflection and inspiration. Nomadic workers will especially find joy in this spacious office on the first floor, where the gaze can wander into the distance.

A Surf House
- on the French West Coast

The house uniform: a surf wetsuit

This property caters to anyone drawn to the ocean's call, whether you're a surfing novice or an expert. In this unique house facing the dunes of the Wild Coast, references to surf culture abound. From the hanging wetsuits to the beautiful books, seashells, and even the surfboard fins displayed throughout the rooms, every detail echoes the spirit of the sea.

This space is designed as a homage to the sport of surfing, extending the water session experience to conquer the Breton waves. From Port de Rhu beach to Port Blanc arch beach and Port Bara: there is no shortage of spots to glide on the water nearby. It's a true luxury to be able to head out for a refreshing dip at any time of the day, surfboard in tow!

A hybrid living space
- where new passions are discovered

Because Joran Briand wanted to offer an immersive experience under the sign of creativity, the West is the Best loft house offers an environment where all activities are possible. Is the weather less than perfect? Cozy up near the stove with the sound system playing, or in front of the home cinema screen for an afternoon of movies. Food lovers will be equally satisfied. A fully equipped semi-professional kitchen invites both culinary experimentation and the preparation of time-honored family recipes. Just make sure salted butter is on the ingredient list!
