Three houses, one Portuguese paradise

“There’s a feeling here of serenity, simplicity, and timeless elegance. The atmosphere is both restorative and inspiring.”

Set on 130 hectares of protected nature, Casas na Ferraria combines rustic charm with contemporary comfort. At the helm are Alexandra and Alexandre, a duo who transformed their family farm into a haven for travellers in search of serenity.

“We wanted to share this place steeped in history while opening it to the present,” explains Alexandra. The result is three houses: Casa Mannaz for up to eleven guests, Casa Ansuz for fifteen, and Casa Kenaz for three, welcoming families, friends, and free spirits in search of fresh air and freedom.

A family legacy,
reimagined

Here, the stones tell a story that spans four generations. Once a working farm, the estate has been carefully reimagined without ever losing its soul.

The spaces honour traditional Portuguese architecture with tiled roofs and bright white façades, while the renovation has added a generous touch of modernity. “We wanted each house to reflect both history and contemporary comfort,” explains Alexandre. Its distinctive charm lies in the harmony between authenticity, architecture, and nature.

It is rare to find, so close to Lisbon, one hundred and thirty hectares of preserved land combined with homes that blend Portuguese heritage and modern comfort. Free of any ostentation, this estate stands out for its quiet elegance, offering a setting designed for renewal and genuine connection with what truly matters.

“One of the most touching compliments we’ve received came from a couple who asked to get married here, saying they couldn’t imagine a better place to say ‘I do,’ captivated by the estate’s unique energy and beauty.”

In terms of décor, the style strikes a balance between clean-lined elegance and warm, welcoming touches. Exposed stone, wide windows, sunlit terraces, and pools perfect for a swim at any hour are paired with designer furniture and elements of local craftsmanship. “Everything has been designed to let the architecture breathe and to frame the vast views of nature, which unfold like living paintings.”

Each house has its own character: Casa Mannaz is ideal for large gatherings, Casa Ansuz for groups of friends, and Casa Kenaz, more intimate, for couples or small families.

Activities
and simple pleasures

While it would be easy to spend your days drifting between the terrace and the pool, nature has a way of calling you outside. On-site, the hosts offer guided walks through the estate, sunrise yoga, personalised massages, and even sound baths for complete relaxation.

In the surrounding area, Arrábida reveals its dramatic cliffs, turquoise coves, and hiking trails that wind through unspoilt landscapes. The more adventurous can try rappelling into a crevice (yes, really), explore dinosaur footprints at Cabo Espichel by e-bike, or enjoy a first horseback ride.

“Our goal is for everyone to leave feeling renewed, whether after a nap by the pool or an adventure in the open air,” says Alexandra with a smile.
