Between forest and ocean, a holiday home where family and friends come together to unwind without giving up comfort. Breathe in the scent of the pines, sip a drink on the terrace, and enjoy the carefully curated décor.
An arty haven in the heart of the Landes
"Here, an atmosphere of authenticity and togetherness prevails, with long leisurely meals, aperitifs on the terrace overlooking the forest, and escapes into nature..."
Just outside the village of Mimizan, La Casita nestles on the edge of the forest, ten minutes from the wild Lespecier beach and only a short bike ride from Lake Aureilhan. 'We wanted a house both close to the ocean and away from the hustle and bustle, a place where you can feel worlds apart… yet still have everything within reach,' sums up Jessica, the owner and decorator.
With its spacious 60 m² terrace, refreshing plunge pool, welcoming dining room, and two bedrooms designed for both young and old, the house is just as perfect for family getaways as it is for escapes à deux.
A story of paper,
of form and of rebirth

Welcome to La Casita Mimizan!
Built in the 1960s by an engineer from a paper mill, the house already had character. Its generous volumes, period mosaics, and wrought-iron gate have been preserved, a nod to its origins. In 2022, Jessica Ballion Ohana, a decorator with 20 years of experience, set out to breathe new life into it through her agency, Boh Décoration & Lifestyle.
The goal: to create a warm, authentic family haven. The result is a home that retains its soul and history, with a welcome contemporary twist.
Zelliges
and antique treasures
Inside, you move from a black zellige-tiled kitchen, designed for large gatherings, to a living room enlivened by artworks and vintage finds. The well-stocked library promises hours of reading, while the piano awaits budding or seasoned musicians alike.
In the bedrooms, the atmosphere swings between cozy retreat and playful hideaway – kids love the alcove with bunk beds. Cotton-gauze bedding, designer pieces, and carefully chosen accessories create a sense of natural harmony. 'Every object tells a story, a journey, or a discovery, much like the chapters of a novel we love to share,' notes Jessica.
Authenticity, aperitifs
and forest walks
What makes the heart of the house beat isn’t just its walls—it’s the atmosphere. Here, time slows down. Morning coffee among the pines, long evenings around an oak table, aperitifs on the terrace as the forest glows golden at sunset.
To complete the experience, a bespoke concierge service can arrange housekeeping, a private chef, surf lessons, or a twilight canoe ride.

In every room, beautiful objects to admire.
“The house reflects our love of the French art of living, literature, and art.”
Vacations in the Landes region
Around La Casita, there’s no shortage of things to do. Surf at Remember, paddleboard on the lake, cycle to the Sunday market for oysters and white wine, go canoeing at sunset—and don’t forget to hunt for mushrooms in the forest.
As for local favorites, the owners recommend catching the sunset at Lespecier beach, dining at A Noste in Mimizan-Plage, or sipping a panoramic cocktail at the La Ô rooftop. With nature all around and a vibrant local scene, boredom simply isn’t on the menu.
