Perched on the banks of a river and just a few steps from an untouched forest, Le Moulin des Scies Neuves blends effortlessly into its natural setting. Once a cooperage that produced wooden cheese boxes in 1780, it has been beautifully transformed into a luxury chalet that welcomes up to twelve guests.
With its exposed beams, lime-washed walls, and inviting décor, every detail captures the essence of life in the Jura. Here, time slows down, birdsong blends with the soft murmur of the river, and nature sets the pace of your stay.

“Together, we imagined this place as a living refuge, deeply connected to our homeland,” say Nathalie and Marika Godin, the mother and daughter behind this family project. A former elite cross-country skier, Marika loves sharing Nordic culture with her guests through ski outings, hikes, dog-sledding, and explorations of the surrounding wilderness.
Both passionate about design and authenticity, they have created a chalet that reflects a lifestyle both simple and refined. “Here, we celebrate the Jura way of life, an appreciation for genuine pleasures, attention to detail, and effortless comfort,” they explain.
A chalet
like no other
Le Moulin des Scies Neuves hasn’t always been a holiday retreat. Built in the 1780s, it first served as a cooperage producing wooden cheese boxes. Transformed into a vacation chalet ten years ago, it has since been renovated to blend modern comfort with authentic charm. The outdoor spaces have been reimagined to make the most of nature in every season, and the bathrooms have been refreshed with polished concrete and handmade French tiles.
Inside, you’ll find raw wood, French linen, a welcoming stove, and abundant natural light, with every detail designed to create a warm, cocoon-like atmosphere. Among the owners’ favorite features are the ever-changing view of the river, the French linen bedding with Angel des Montagnes bedspreads, and the striking bathrooms that pay tribute to French artisanal craftsmanship. “Every element was chosen to make guests feel both at home and in harmony with nature,” Nathalie and Marika explain.
Vacations
at Moulin des Scies Neuves
During their stay, families love gathering together for gentle walks in the forest, swims in nearby lakes, or fondue and raclette dinners that stretch late into the evening. Nights often end in the sauna or by the fireside.
For the more adventurous, the Jura is a playground for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dog-sledding, and cycling. The nearby lakes and rivers, such as Lac de Joux and Lac des Rousses, offer magical moments throughout the year, from natural ice skating in winter to autumn walks through the peatlands and summer evenings by the water.
“Slow living and a return to the essentials,” the owners say. A stay where nature takes the lead and time seems to pause.
