To reach Villa Rocca 1914, you first have to follow a narrow country lane. Perched atop a hill, overlooking a sea of olive trees and vineyards, this century-old villa feels frozen in time. Just a few kilometers from Ostuni, the famed 'White City,' it stands proudly amid the rolling countryside of Puglia.
Built in 1914 by local farmers using nothing but stone, earth, and water, this house has weathered seasons and generations — even serving as a primary school at one point. After lying peacefully abandoned for thirty years, frozen in time, the villa captured the hearts of Michele and Marina, who set out to breathe new life into it.
A couple,
a project
Before settling in Ostuni, Michele was living in London, where he convinced Marina — fresh out of Marangoni Fashion School — to swap the fog for a taste of la dolce vita. It didn’t take much: Marina launched her own brand (Marina Eerrie), and Michele set off in search of a house to restore. When they stumbled upon this abandoned but promising old building, it was love at first sight.
Three years of renovation later, the villa was reborn. "We kept the original walls and vaulted ceilings. The rest? Torn down, reimagined, rebuilt." Seven of the nine bedrooms now have independent access and private bathrooms — ideal for big families or groups of friends who want to be together, while still enjoying their own space. "We wanted it to be flexible — a place where everyone could feel at home."

In the evening, we take advantage of the golden hour.
Inside, you won’t find any rustic clichés or lace doilies. With her designer’s eye, Marina envisioned a calm, refined atmosphere — elegant, but never stuffy. “We wanted to bring the serenity of the landscape into the interiors. The red earth, the ancient olive trees — it’s all so soothing.”
The style? A soft blend of raw materials, natural textures, vintage finds from local markets, and a few contemporary touches. “No fake traditional décor frozen in time — just a warm, understated kind of chic.” And it works beautifully.

At Villa Rocca, life unfolds as much outdoors as it does inside. Everything is designed to make the most of the sun — and the stars. A shaded pergola for lazy post-lunch naps, a raised pool that blends into the landscape, a restored pizza oven, an outdoor kitchen that doubles as a bar, a jacuzzi, and even a sauna.
To explore the area, you can indulge your inner epicure with wine tastings at nearby vineyards, wander through postcard-perfect villages like Locorotondo or Martina Franca, learn to make cheese, sail out to the cliffs of Polignano — or simply bask in the sun back at the villa. With space for up to 18 guests, it’s also the perfect setting for an intimate celebration, whether it’s a birthday or a small wedding under the shade of the olive trees.
