From a winemaker’s home to a holiday haven

“What makes this house unique is the way it has been restored to its former glory, with stone and wooden beams revealed behind the plaster, while modern materials have been added to ensure greater comfort.”

In the heart of the wine-growing village of Givry, known for its full-bodied vintages, stands a house with a story all its own. Built in the 18th century, this former Burgundian stone winemaker’s home has weathered the centuries: generations of vintners, barrels and tools passed through its walls before it was eventually reduced to a simple storage space.

That was until Fanny and Méric, two locals who had spent years in Paris and abroad, came back and brought it back to life.

A vintage
home

Step through the door of La Maison de Givry and the first thing you see is an artist’s studio–style glass canopy, flooded with light and opening onto a spacious living area. A sleek contemporary kitchen, a welcoming dining space and a cozy lounge share the volume beneath a cathedral ceiling highlighted by wooden beams.

The house has three bedrooms, each designed as a little haven for resting after a day in the vineyards. High-end bedding, quality linens and two bathrooms ensure a level of comfort worthy of a fine vintage.

Outdoors, a private courtyard invites breakfasts in the sun or long aperitifs, ideally with a glass of Givry in hand. And for those who enjoy a touch of surprise, the renovated vaulted cellar is ready to host an impromptu tasting—without ever leaving your slippers behind.

The lovely living room, bright and uncluttered.

“Three objects that sum up the spirit of the house? A bottle of wine, a set of glasses, and a charcuterie board filled with local delicacies!”

Before heading out to explore Burgundy, it's time for breakfast at home.

La Maison de Givry strikes a delicate balance: a touch of heritage, a dose of modern comfort and plenty of conviviality. Everything is designed for living in the moment, whether around a family meal, a night with friends or a well-deserved nap. Typical guests include extended families with children, parents and grandparents together, or groups of thirty- and forty-something friends. In short, city dwellers looking for a break and a taste of local life. People come here to breathe, reconnect and enjoy a unique setting between Paris, Lyon and Marseille.

Around the house, activities abound. Wander through the vineyards, hike or cycle along the Voie Verte, visit cellars for tours and tastings, or explore nearby wine villages and castles. And of course, the local cuisine is a highlight, from inventive Japanese dishes at Maison Minori to reimagined regional fare at La Table de Givry. The Château de Germolles, a medieval treasure just a stone’s throw away, adds another layer to the experience.
