Spotted: 7 unbeatable pools (and the houses to rent alongside them!)

The pools at Weeks Off properties awaken our summer cravings. To delight your eyes—and to offer you one more reason to book a stay at one of our homes—we’re excited to share a curated list of 7 exceptional pools spanning from Dordogne to the French Riviera. But before we dive into our top selections, let’s zoom in on the types of pools that catch our attention during our house-hunting. Fancy a little dip?

Focus #1 – Infinity Pools

They seamlessly blend into the landscape and often offer breathtaking views. The infinity pool is undoubtedly the centerpiece of a property. Just like the one at Casa Octopus. Nestled in a Mediterranean garden, one couldn’t dream of a more beautiful invitation to immerse oneself in the unique atmosphere of the French Riviera. For timeless moments, with feet in the water and head in the canopy.

At Cap Nègre, a villa with an infinity pool that seems suspended in its typical Mediterranean garden of Lavandou.

Focus on: Natural Pools

Similar to the pool at Mas de Cinq Sous, where water lilies and reeds mingle with views of the limestone mountains, 100% natural pools are a rare hit that we’ve also found at Mas Les Vignes in the Cévennes, the first house in the Les Maisons de l’Heure Vide character collection.

There’s also a fondness for saltwater pools, which align with ecological principles. In Dordogne, le Château de la Bourlie offers us two pools overlooking fields – one in the garden of the medieval castle (main photo) and the other at the rear of Le Pressoir, a magnificent forest-edge outbuilding.

Another eco-friendly option for enjoying the water is found at Château Leboscq, located near the Gironde estuary. Here, we discover a saltwater pool designed like a swimming lane, with a perfect perspective, with its water being naturally filtered. Additionally, it offers a kid-friendly concept: the pool’s removable bottom is adjustable in height (up to 1.40 meters deep) to accommodate both young and adult swimmers!

Guaranteed ‘wow‘ effect

Get ready to be dazzled, as the next two pools are simply stunning. We love them for their “wow” factor that lingers in the mind long after your vacation:

In the photo next to this text, on the road to Les Sanguinaires in Ajaccio, there’s a bright villa and its pool overlooking the Mediterranean. Alongside the pool’s elevated edge with its white borders, which is very photogenic, there are only a few steps left to reach the sea.

Heading to Provence, a two-level pool opens up to the Luberon mountain range, seemingly suspended high above Gordes. As a bonus, its highly graphic design, coupled with the movement of water, is simply hypnotic!

The surprise pool!

Off the charts: the indoor pool is the cherry on top of a townhouse. Take, for example, this half-timbered villa in the heart of Deauville, where its heated pool welcomes visitors in both summer and winter. In its courtyard, it has the air of a tiled little oasis that instantly captivates. While this one caught our attention for this summer ranking (as it also opens up to the outside), we can’t help but give a nod to the pool at Chalet Le 1550 in Courchevel, waiting to be discovered.
